The Global Compact
A "Global Compact" linking private companies all over the world to the UN, promoting worldwide distribution of the benefits of globalization, an idea launched in 1999 by the Secretary General of the UN, Kofi Annan. The 10 principles are geared toward promoting good business and social practices around the world.
By becoming a member, Bouygues Immobilier has committed to putting these principles into practice. Not just a tool for development, it is method of progress for the company, which is expressed in the establishment of a road map for actions to be taken. It allows us to join a worldwide sustainable development policy, and express our requirements in terms of quality, environment and innovation.
HUMAN RIGHTS
Principle 1: Companies should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights
>Bouygues Immobilier, as a contractor, is becoming involved in favour of integration.
Principle 2: companies must not be complicit in any human rights abuses.
>As an employer, Bouygues Immobilier sees to it that laws and regulations are respected.
LABOUR STANDARDS
Principle 3: Companies should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining
>The quality of social dialogue is a constant concern for human resources management. Two unions, with which 4 agreements were signed in 2005, are represented within Bouygues Immobilier.
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
>An annual agreement regarding salaries, labour conditions and length of work is signed with the unions represented in the company
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour
> Bouygues Immobilier regularly inspects work conditions at worksites
Principle 6: elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
> An agreement is currently being developed with HALDE, the French anti-discrimination authority.
ENVIRONMENT
Principle 7: Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges
>We are organized to anticipate environmental risks and nuisances
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
>Particular care is taken with "Habitat and environment" and "High Environmental Quality" certification of our operations.
Principle 9: encourage the development and distribution of environmentally friendly technologies.
>Bouygues Immobilier builds with new materials that minimise energy consumption and pollution

Principle 10: Companies should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.
The personal involvement of the Chairman and General Management of Bouygues Immobilier on the subject of transparency has created clear rules for newcomers.
